TERMITE & PEST CONTROL
Fleas

Fleas mostly live and breed outside in shady areas, but can be transported into our homes by our pets, ourselves or other animals such as rats and mice. Once in the home, they lay eggs in carpets, soft furnishings and other cracks and crevices.

Signs of flea infestations can be frequent scratching by pets or people in the household, small red bites particularly around feet and legs, small black flecks that look like pepper (flea dirt) on pets, bedding, carpets and furniture, or even visible fleas jumping on pets or furniture.

The recommended treatment for fleas is to first treat pets with veterinarian recommended products. This can be done by speaking with their regular veterinarian or with the RSPCA. Then, we would do an initial treatment with an insect growth regulator (IGR) and a knock down chemical and follow up with treatments every 10 – 14 days (as that is the hatching cycle for fleas) using knock down chemicals only until the infestation is under control.
